Combining with HITRANS active travel work, electric bikes and bike shelters for Barra and Oban Airports have been ordered and HITRANS are liaising with HIAL, airport staff and local bike providers in both areas to establish the schemes. Significant progress is being made on the new piece of work by Arcadis looking at low cost solutions for the re-opening of Skye Airport. A Skye Airport Working Group has been established, involving key stakeholders for the project, and Arcadis will produce the final report in September for sharing.
Work is underway for one of HITRANS’ final deliverables in the SPARA project – low carbon strategies for Inverness and Kirkwall Airports. The reports will provide action plans for both airports, covering areas such as future proofing the airport to meet demands for electric cars and charging infrastructure.
